As the Artistic Director of Dance North, she choreographed many works, often in conjunction with theatre companies, collaborating with Australian musicians, designers and artists, and exploring a variety of venues and contexts. Cheryl has worked extensively on cultural exchange programs in Asia, especially in Vietnam where she has been honoured by the Vietnamese government for services to dance and for services to the women’s movement in Vietnam.
Cheryl has served the dance community as a member of the Australia Council and the Arts Advisory Committee of the Queensland government and as National President of Ausdance. As Associate Professor of dance at the Queensland University of Technology and an active member of Ausdance and the World Dance Alliance, Cheryl is a wonderful ambassador for Australian dance.
