From 1920-38 she taught at the Vienna State Academy for Music and Drama, and toured extensively with her company Tanzgruppe Bodenwieser. After the war, the widowed Bodenwieser eventually arrived in Australia in 1939. She immediately established a company in Sydney, touring Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Rhodesia and India.
Bodenwieser choreographed approximately 300 dance works over her career, and her studio in Sydney helped to produce some of Australia’s best-known modern choreographers and dancers. Bodenwieser played an immeasurable role in the development of modern dance in Australia, and her technique is still being taught by her loyal disciples.
