Who manages the awards?

  • the Australian Dance Awards Nominations Committee and Selection Panel — assisted by Ausdance National
  • the Awards ceremony host for 2012 is Ausdance WA.

Who manages the Australian Dance Awards event?

The Awards ceremony is produced by an Ausdance state organisation. The 2012 Australian Dance Awards will be produced by Ausdance WA.

A Curatorial Advisory Panel assists with artistic direction of the ceremony and performance program. This panel includes the director of the host Ausdance branch, the Selection Panel Chair and 3 – 4 dance professionals selected by Ausdance.

Who manages the nominations process?

Ausdance National

In consultation with the Nominations Committee and the Selection Panel, Ausdance National

  • manages nominee eligibility and award selection criteria
  • supervises the nominations and voting procedures
  • changes, adds or removes award categories in response to industry demand or development

Selection Panel

The panel is made up of 14 dance professionals from all states and territories. Members represent the various dance sectors, including teachers, independent artists, dance company directors, writers/critics, administrators and youth dance specialists.

What happens if one of the selection panel is nominated or shortlisted for an award?

They are excluded from voting in that category and excluded from any correspondence or discussion about the category.
